Key West Eco-Tours
Almost There Charters realizes that not every visitor to beautiful Key West is an avid angler. Most however, are here because of our lush tropical settings and the beautiful surrounding waters of the National Marine Sanctuary and the Great White Heron Wildlife Refuge. Paradise!
As you meander through winding, mangrove enclosed channels you are surrounded with unequaled sights and sounds. Drift with the currents or anchor up and listen to the calls of parent Ospreys to their fledglings who are just learning to fly, watch the Magnificant Frigate Birds and the Great American Bald Eagles soaring on wind currents and Brown Pelicans diving on schools of bait as flocks of Ibis move from one mangrove island to another. See Cormorants and an occaisional Anhinga dive and forage for their meals. Near shallow water transitional zones one can watch wadding birds such as the Great Blue Heron, Great White Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Tricolored Heron, Green-backed Heron and Little Blue Heron. One of the most rewarding sightings is the beautiful Roseate Spoonbills as they wade seining water through their bills traping tiny crustations that give them their pink color. Watch large schools of bait erupting the surface of the water trying to escape the mouths of larger fish further up the food chain. This is a trip of a life time and a must-see aboard Almost There Charters! Call or email for specific viewing as some of our trips are seasonal.
